Running more than one business

The lawn business and the plow business. The LLC and the side hustle that predates it. One Thalermark workspace can hold them all, each with its own books, invoices, contacts, and reports, fully separate.

Add a company

From the account menu (your avatar), + Add company (owners and admins). Two questions:

• Business name.
• How’s it set up? Just me (sole proprietor), Just me, with an LLC, Me and a partner or two (partnership), or a corporation taxed as an S-corp or C-corp. Pick whichever matches how it files taxes; this is what makes the tax worksheet mirror the right form.

Address, time zone, logo, and the rest live in Settings → Business, per company.

Switching

The account menu lists every company with a ✓ on the active one; click another to switch. Everyone on the team can switch, and everything you look at and record belongs to the company you’re switched into.

When a business winds down

Settings → Business → Close this business. A closed company stops taking new work but keeps everything readable and every report working, so you can still file its final return. It stays in the switcher under “Show closed,” and you can reopen it if it was a mistake.

Same business, new paperwork?

If you’ve registered what’s really a new business (a new tax ID from the IRS, say the sole proprietorship became an LLC), Thalermark has a guided flow for exactly that. Change the business type in Settings → Business and confirm it’s a new business: the new company takes over your customers, prices, and balances from a date you choose, and the old one closes cleanly with its records intact. (Answered “new EIN” by mistake? It can be undone.)
